The NZ Champions of Cheese Awards are run by the NZ cheese industry for the NZ cheese industry.The entire event is managed and promoted by an independent company and assisted administratively by the secretary of the NZSCA Inc. The Awards are judged independently by an expert team of NZ judges and an international Master judge, Russell Smith to ensure professionalism, expert knowledge and credibility.
The NZ Champions of Cheese brand has been successfully established, through a series of official Awards events and promotional activity. The purpose of these Awards is to honour technical excellence in the manufacture of NZ Cheese. Ultimately, there is a broader objective to drive consumption of NZ specialist cheeses by raising awareness, encouraging trial and promoting usage of NZ cheeses.
The NZ cheese industry is thriving. Consumer demand for specialist cheese, both at home and overseas has never been stronger. The NZ Champions of Cheese Awards are held to champion excellence in this evolving, exciting industry sector and to showcase the extraordinary diversity and superb quality of our cheese.

Milk Test NZ Champion Cheesemaker

NZ Chefs Champion Sheep Cheese Award
The NZ Chefs Association represents professional chefs, cooks and trainees, patissiers and confectioners from school age to mature practitioners in New Zealand’s most vibrant and demanding industry. Through continued education including Judges qualifications, Menu engineering, Beef + Lamb seminars, along with involvement in culinary competitions and trade events at local, national and international level. Puhoi Valley Champion Artisan Cheese Award
Puhoi is a small village around 50kms north of Auckland. In 1983 a small manufacturing plant was built just past the village to convert local goats’ milk into ice cream powder and Camembert.
